2 Reasons Why I will Return to Kentucky

The Kentucky Derby and the Bourbon Trail – 2 Reasons why I will Return to Kentucky W ith little time to spend in the Blue Grass State I was still able to get a glimpse of why I want to return to Kentucky. No, I’m not talking finger-licking-good chicken. The reasons I will return to Kentucky, The Kentucky Derby Museum and the Bourbon Trail .  Although I’m not a huge horse race fan (I prefer wiener dogs),  or a huge whiskey fan (I prefer beer), I couldn’t leave the state without at least seeing the famous Kentucky Derby grounds or tasting some bourbon straight from the source. After touring the Louisville slugger Museum and factory (A Must see when visiting the city) we drove through a less than posh area of town before arriving at the expensive Kentucky Derby grounds. I had no idea just how massive this horse track is. Although there is a museum on site we didn’t have enough time to check it out. A shame, as I do love a good sports story. Reluctantly we moved on but not...

Visiting Bellingham – The Portland of the North.

I n the past couple of years Portland’s popularity as a tourist destination has skyrocketed, especially for folks from Vancouver (BC).  Vancouver’s love of all that is Portland has even spawned a bar called Portland Craft which features food and drinks inspired by Stumptown. Great idea and concept but really? Thankfully Vancouver’s craft brewery scene is taking off so we can start celebrating our own a little more. Don’t get me wrong, I love Portland. So much so that it has become an annual (at least) trip for us. All I am saying is Vancouverites need not drive 6 hours down the I-5 to get what Portland has to offer. If you are looking for a little Americana to go with your craft brewery a mere 30 minutes across the border will do. Of course, I am talking about visiting Bellingham, Washington   – w here you can find many of the things that makes Portland so great without the 6-hour drive. With that in mind, I headed south last weekend for a night of great...

Why We Are Getting Married in Oaxaca, Mexico

Find out why we chose Oaxaca, Mexico as a destination wedding location out of all the places in the world! From from celebrating our one year anniversary in India, to the completion of our six-month backpacking trip, to moving to Vietnam together, Tim and I have had our fair share of adventures. But our biggest adventure yet is walking down the aisle! I’ve always dreamed of a destination wedding. Being an avid traveler, a destination wedding encapsulates my love of travel, but even on a deeper level, celebrates so poignantly that love is one of life’s greatest adventures. So why not make the wedding itself an act of adventure? From an economic standpoint too, destination weddings — when planned well — can be cheaper for the bride and groom, especially those who are self-financing. Check out the photo essay of our destination wedding here. Which brings me to explaining to my family and friends, Why Mexico ? It’s true. My fiancé and I have no ties to Mexico. ...
