There is perhaps no single hotel in all of London as luxurious and quintessential as The Langham. Having been around for 150 years, The Langham is a household name in London and having undergone significant renovations, manages to match classic charm with modern day luxuries. I checked in for a two night stay to enjoy the property and its’ iconic location in the heart of London.
Inside my Suite: With a view of the London Eye no less!
With executive club lounge access I enjoyed a seamless check-in with my bags sent to my room waiting immediately and luckily for me, an early check-in in the early afternoon. The club lounge is located on the third floor of the hotel and allows guests an oasis to enjoy complimentary food and drink all day long, office facilities and a generous buffet breakfast spread in the mornings.
My suite was located on the eighth floor of the hotel, overlooking the city and with a clear view of the London Eye in the distance. During my stay I was treated to the likes of face mist and lavender at turn down service, a surprise hot chocolate delivery on my last evening and daily replenished fruit.
The Wigmore Pub
There are plenty of places to perch yourself around the hotel for food or an afternoon drink, but my favourite eatery in the hotel is hands down the Wigmore Pub. The emerald green and burnt orange interior is reminiscent of a time once passed, though if any city is going to hold on to its old world charm it would have to be London.
I found myself here on a couple of occasions sipping a glass of merlot or feasting on some classic British pub fare, especially when escaping the gloomy skies and incessant rain outside.
Afternoon Tea at The Langham London
If you want to experience the Langham but have plans to stay elsewhere, consider dropping by for a classic British afternoon tea as this is one of the best places in London to do so. The afternoon tea setting includes a glass of champagne as well as three courses: sandwiches and savoury pastries followed by scones with clotted cream and jam, finishing with the final course of sweets (by which time you’ll be struggling to finish!) All of this is of course accompanied by a selection of teas to leave you feeling like a Londoner in no time.
Christmas in London: What not to miss
December is no doubt the most magical month to visit London so if you can brave the cold (and the rain) then you’re in for a real treat! The Langham is about as central as you can get: located in Marylebone and a stones throw away from Oxford Circus, at the intersection of Oxford Street and Regent Street.
During your stay be sure to visit the iconic London arcades for a very British shopping experience (Burlington Arcade, Royal Arcade and Piccadilly Arcade), as well as making your way over to Soho and Covent Garden for the cities’ best and most charming restaurants, cafes and boutiques.
